In the information age patients have a higher level of awareness about their health. This has lead to a continual demand for over the counter purchases. As the general public take a greater interest in their wellbeing the OTC market continues to thrive.
Pharmacists and their over-the-counter teams have a fundamental role to play in an efficient self-care model, expanding and utilizing their accessibility and professional capabilities in partnership with their colleagues in the healthcare industry. The GSK Self-Care Award recognises those pharmacies who have made great strides in implementing health promotion, self-care and community well-being strategies and initiatives. This award aims to encourage well-designed and clinically balanced patient support. The award will go to the pharmacy which can demonstrate a significant and positive impact on the experience of those who use pharmacy services. This might be through campaigns, initiatives or promotions which have identified a need to address certain health issues within the wider community.
Judges will be looking for:
- Evidence of long-term, consistent planning and achievements that have created a positive impact on pharmacy services and self-care.
- Cumulative professional accomplishments and the ability to represent and model what self-care represents within the profession of pharmacy.
- A solid understanding of the goals of self-care and a significant to contribution to achieving these goals.
Who can Enter?
This category is open to any independent pharmacy. Applications can be through a third-party nomination or through individual applications.
All entries will be judged by an independent panel of experts.
The finalists will be announced in the May 2018 edition of Irish Pharmacy News.
